The Long Walk

As I enter my last semester at the illustrious Howard University, I realize that this has been no short journey, it has quite literally been a long walk. I never realized that from freshman year to now, I would grow to learn more about my passions in life, friends, journalism, and ultimately myself. There have been so many memories made at 2400 Sixth St., but I'll begin with a few. Starting online during my freshman year, I never was able to experience the Cathy Hughes School of Communications in person. Therefore, my SOC career began at 300 Bryant St. NW. Weary of what this new building would bring, I have learned so much within these walls that have helped shape me into the journalist I am today. From the main floor to the 3rd floor, I have had classes with many professors, to name a few, Dr. Patton, Professor Blount, Professor McWhorter, and Professor Harris. These courses prepared me for the rigorous schedule of Capstone. Being in a new studio and having to figure out new equipment, my classmates and I stayed determined to make the best of our new location and go into this experience with open hearts and open minds. As I finished my script in the final newscast, I realized the amount of growth I've had within this building and the campus over the last four years. I am truly grateful for all the classmates, professors, and experiences I've encountered that have helped shape me into who I am at this moment.
